The Webunet Group is a small business consulting company based in Kalispell, Montana. The principal, Tom Heatherington, is the former President (co-founder) and COO of Opinioneering Corporation. He served as President of Netcom Interactive where he piloted it to become one of the largest Internet hosting companies in the world. Prior to Netcom, Tom co-founded PICnet, one of the first ISPs in the nation (which was acquired by Netcom).
Since 1993, Heatherington has been involved in the commercial sector of the Internet when he co-founder of one of America’s first ISPs in 1993 in Dallas, TX. His company, PICnet, was responsible for many Internet ‘firsts’ such as streaming audio, multi-domain hosting and online website creation. PICnet’s customers included such notables as Frito-Lay, Virgin Records and Texas Rangers MLB, but their primary focus was helping small businesses adapt to online marketing.
Tom was the former President (co-founder) and COO of Opinioneering Corporation, an online opinion aggregation service. Prior to that, he served as President of Netcom Interactive where he piloted it to become the largest Internet hosting company in the world. Netcom, which was the leading public Internet access company at the time, acquired PICnet in 1995.
Heatherington is the author of “The Complete Small Business Internet Guide” (published by Macmillan/QUE). A book designed to help small businesses create, set up and maintain a Website without having to invest significant time and money in the process. Written for those who didn’t know how or where to begin.
In addition to that book, Tom has authored several articles about Internet technology and marketing related elements of the Internet. He has been interviewed on TV (Bloomberg TV, CNBC, PBS), national and local radio, and extensively in print; including The Wall Street Journal, PC World, Computer Currents and Business Strategies Quarterly. Tom has been invited to speak at a variety of industry conferences and seminars on many occasions, including such diverse groups as:
